Book Now: 3 Ways to Have a Hassle-Free Destination Holiday

8/23/2017

August is a time when many people are taking trips to the beach and thinking about getting back to school. But believe it or not, it’s also time to start thinking about your holiday travel plans.

One of the most common travel mistakes I see is people waiting until it’s too late to book their holiday travel. People often assume Christmas is a slow time of year for destinations because many of us spend time with our families at home or travel to see them. But it is just the opposite and peak season for most destinations. Most cruise lines and all-inclusive resorts book up well in advance for that time of year with couples and families looking for something new and easy — something that will make lots of memories without any of the hassles. If you’re among that set and looking for something less traditional, here are some ways to make your destination holiday enjoyable:

  1. Book now for best value and to get what you want. Prices around the holiday skyrocket — and itineraries fill up fast! Airfares and all travel related items, are going will be in high demand. The earlier you book, the better value you will get. Plus, booking early means getting your choice of accommodations or cruise itineraries. As things fill up, you will have fewer options and may even miss out on what you wanted to do. Of course, life happens and if you can’t plan your trip in advance, I can help you get the best experience and value available. To do that, you’ll need to be ready to make a decision fast, though; things can book up while we are discussing your options.
  2. Expect some crowds. Cruises, resorts, theme parks, etc. will have 100 percent occupancy rate. Knowing this in advance will help you prepare. If you’re the type of person who dislikes crowds, that’s OK, but you might want to consider other options. Let me know when you’re booking, and we’ll find you something quieter!
  3. Choose an unlikely destination. Many of us head south in the winter, seeking warmer temperatures in far-off places. And while colder climates aren’t typically the first thing we think of when starting to plan a vacation, there is something very appealing and romantic about a white Christmas and horse-drawn sleigh or magically lit Christmas market in Europe. As luck would have it winter is considered off-season in Europe! Of course, if your heart is set on something warmer, there are many fantastic places to celebrate the holiday and experience something new. Lastly, if your budget is too tight and can’t handle the holiday price jump, consider off season travel options just before or after the holiday.
